Living Water Season of Creation Event 2026
The MSJC/MEEC Integral Ecology Team is hosting a free Zoom event featuring the ecology nonprofit Waterspirit to explore water justice, threats to water resources, and contemporary environmental impacts through prayer, reflection, and discussion, in celebration of the Season of Creation 2026.
The international ecumenical Season of Creation begins on September 1 and extends through October 4. This year's theme, Living Water, draws from Ezekiel 47: 9, 12, a vision of sacred, flowing, life-giving waters that restore barren lands, revive waters, and sustain flourishing ecosystems.
The event will feature speaker Blair Nelsen, Executive Director of Waterspirit, who will draw on her international and Atlantic Coast experiences to help us understand our interconnections with water. The discussion will also explore water in our Christian tradition; threats to water quality, access, and affordability; and the environmental impacts of rising water use and energy consumption.
This free Zoom event hosted by the MSJC/MEEC Integral Ecology Team will be a time of learning, prayer, reflection, and conversation about regional and global water justice concerns and hope-filled actions we can take to care for our common home.

Marianist World Day of Prayer on October 11, 2026
The 42nd Marianist World Day of Prayer on October 11, 2026, is centered at the Diocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre in Pinar del Río, Cuba. The Prayer reflection for this day details the grassroots founding of the local sanctuary in 1923 and its recent elevation to a diocesan shrine, while recounting the foundational 1613 legend of Cuba's patron saint, the Virgin of Charity, being discovered at sea by the three Juans. The day also highlights the establishment of Marianist missionaries and lay communities in Cuba since 2003, and concludes with specific prayer intentions for global peace, our Church, Marianist vocations, unity, and healing.
