Mystical Rose Oratory Award

Our Marianist Universities are actively expanding their community impact through an award-winning open-air gathering space at Chaminade University of Honolulu, a pioneering on-campus dual-credit program for high schoolers at St. Mary’s University, San Antonio, and a sustainable urban farm fostering multicultural connections connected with the University of Dayton.

The newly completed Mystical Rose Oratory Pavilion at Chaminade University of Honolulu recently earned an Award of Merit from AIA Honolulu for its thoughtful, climate-friendly radial design. Serving as an extension of the Chaminade University and Saint Louis School campuses, the open-air amphitheater and gathering space was celebrated not just for its architectural excellence, but for successfully creating a welcoming environment that nurtures Marianist faith and community connection.

Starting in Fall 2026, St. Mary’s University is expanding its educational outreach by launching a pioneering dual-credit partnership with Holy Cross of San Antonio. While St. Mary's already partners with other local Catholic high schools, this new initiative marks the first-time high school juniors and seniors will take classes directly on the university's campus, giving them the opportunity to earn up to 29 college credits before graduation.

The University of Dayton’s self-sustaining Flyer Farm is fostering community connection through a new partnership that invites Sinclair College ESL (English as a Second Language) students to grow culturally familiar crops while practicing their English. This collaboration supplements the urban farm's already massive success in campus sustainability, which includes harvesting thousands of pounds of food for local pantries, composting over 100 tons of food waste, and running student-led beekeeping and orchard projects that serve the broader Dayton area.
