Chaminade College Preparatory’s Native Plant Nursery
We have grown about 1000 plants in the native plant nursery spearheaded by a group of about 10 seniors and juniors. We have or will have given away 400 plants by the end of October to Las Virgenes water district to support their seminars on conservation, west basin water district, for their water reclamation day, California native plant society for P-22 day, and long beach municipal for beach restoration programs in conjunction with surf riders. We also plan to give plants to test plots (500 plants) from November to January (7 locations) and to the Las Virgenes sheriff department for a lawn to habitat project and the VA in West Los Angeles. There are several smaller projects with LAPL and Ventura County libraries that we are working on.
