St. Mary's University is expanding its Marianist mission by committing to 10,000 hours of community service across San Antonio during the 2026-27 academic year to honor Pope Leo XIV.

The initiative was launched on August 22, 2026, with the annual Continuing the Heritage Day of Service bringing together more than 500 students, faculty, and alumni to support local nonprofits through hands-on projects. This aspirational pledge builds on St. Mary University's deep-rooted tradition of service and civic engagement, which has contributed over 69,000 volunteer hours to the city since 1997.
