FamilyOnline’s June 2026 issue offers a glimpse into the Marianist Province Assembly where the Society of Mary’s new Provincial Council, led by Brother Ed Violett, SM, was installed.

The 2026 Marianist Province Assembly in Dayton, Ohio, gathered over 170 members of the Marianist Family under the theme “Embracing Our Roots, Forging Our Future” to explore how to carry the Marianist legacy forward while responding to the needs of a new generation. Throughout the four-day event, participants engaged in dialogue centered on the vital role of youth accompaniment in ministry and education, a focus highlighted by keynote speaker Dr. Timothy Gabrielli and various young adult panels. The assembly culminated in a major leadership transition with the installation of a new Provincial Council effective July 1, 2026. Brother Edward Violett succeeds Father Oscar Vasquez as Provincial, alongside new leadership team members Father Bob Jones and Brother Thomas Wendorf, as the community recommits to its ongoing mission.

This year, we celebrate our nation’s 250th birth anniversary. In 1776, the year our nation was formed, Father Chaminade was 15 years old while studying for the priesthood in France. Read about Father Chaminade's life during this period.
