AP Environmental Science students from Chaminade College Preparatory High School in West Hills, CA, visited the Los Angeles nonprofit TreePeople for an interactive field trip that connected their classroom studies of ecology and conservation to real-world environmental stewardship.

On 4/27/2026, Chaminade College Preparatory High School’s APES – Advanced Placement Environmental Science students visited the TreePeople. TreePeople is a nonprofit environmental organization in Los Angeles. Tree People has been working to grow and plant trees in Los Angeles for the past 50 years. Throughout this experience, students were exposed to how forests impact the local ecosystem. Topics of ecosystem services were discussed as students toured the educational facility, nursery, and surrounding rehabilitated area.

Our APES students took their learning beyond the classroom with a visit to the TreePeople. Through an interactive tour, they explored forests and watershed systems while engaging in meaningful conversations about ecology, sustainability, and conservation practices that directly impact our local community. Hands-on experiences like this visit to the Tree People help students connect classroom concepts to real-world impact and inspire them to become thoughtful stewards of the environment.
