Mark Laury, Ministry Lead for the Encounter Project at Chaminade College Preparatory, St. Louis, MO, shares the following update:

Chaminade College Preparatory, St. Louis, MO, has been benchmarking its environmental impact and sustainability initiatives with the goal of attaining Green Ribbon status with the US Department of Education. To be designated as a Green Ribbon School, we must document improvements in sustainability as defined by the Green Schools Alliance.

Using the START dashboard and benchmarking tool, we are looking inward to understand better where we have been, where we are, and where we still need to go. For us, START has been a comprehensive tool that asks us to evaluate 53 different metrics under three specific areas of sustainability: Educational, Organizational, and Physical. This tool has given us the clarity we need to understand how sustainability is interwoven into nearly every element of our school's culture. We are using this tool in tandem with the Marianist Encounter Project to understand better our commitment to Service, Justice, Peace, and the Integrity of Creation.
