Ecological Initiatives at the Sawmill Marianist Religious Community

The Marianist Religious Community at Sawmill Road, Dayton, OH, promotes ecological initiatives in community living, including support for local immigrants and families in need.

As regards MFEP, the community continues to do the following:

  • Recycling

  • More waste reduction by composting and not using plastic bags, etc.

  • Using more eco-friendly detergents

  • Owning more efficient appliances.

  • Increased use of LED lighting in the house.

  • Maintaining the natural and local plants and flowers on the property.

  • Contributing to MEEC and Mary's Mission.

In a Dayton area community effort, Sawmill and other SM communities have pooled our resources to support the UD Law Center's free clinic for Immigrants in the greater Dayton area.

Our Community also supports interned Immigrants through Paul Fitzpatrick's volunteer ministry to the immigrants being held in the local ICE facility.

Furthermore, the community supports member Bro. Will Halloway's partnering with community friend Ann Frapwell through the Holy Angels Parish's Vincent de Paul Society program, which assists Dayton-area families in need of groceries, clothing, and other essentials.
