Greenhouse Gases Finding 2009 – An appeal

Send an appeal (link below) to the EPA to stop revoking the 2009 Greenhouse Gas Endangerment Finding, which supports the findings that greenhouse gases pose a threat to public health.

On July 29, 2025, the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) proposed revoking the 2009 Greenhouse Gas Endangerment Finding, a scientifically backed determination that greenhouse gases pose a threat to public health and a finding that has served as the foundation for regulating emissions from vehicles and other sources. EPA argues that climate regulations are financially burdensome. However, the agency’s own report projected over $2.1 trillion in net benefits over 30 years—including $820 billion in fuel savings and $1.8 trillion in public health and climate benefits. This proposal comes amid escalating climate disasters that are costing lives and billions of dollars, and it contradicts Catholic teachings on protecting creation and human life. Through the Catholic Climate Covenant’s God’s Plan(et) Initiative, individuals are encouraged to speak out by sending a letter to the EPA.
