MEEC mentions the successful native plants symposium held in February and the dialogue with MSJC’s Integral Ecology team for all members of the Marianist Family to discuss their joint statement. Click here to view MEEC’s upcoming events, which include an upcoming Spring retreat.

MEEC had a productive and active start to the year, from finalizing the next strategic plan at the MSJC Steering Committee meeting in San Jose to hosting educational events like the River Stewards session and the native plant symposium. The team's commitment to the environment has also shone through its interactive Zoom kickoff for the Call to Courageous Action on the Climate Crisis and preparations for the upcoming native plant sale catalog. Looking ahead to a busy April, the Marianist community can download the newly released ecological Stations of the Cross resource, attend the "Walking in Beauty" spring retreat on April 11th, and join the in-person Dialogue on Hope with author Dan Horan on April 25th.

Marianist Lenten Reflections and Prayers

Ecological Stations of the Cross

The Stations of the Cross are a traditional devotional prayer, especially observed during Holy Week before Easter, to deepen our identification with Jesus' Passion and Crucifixion as portrayed in the Gospel accounts. These stations are offered by the Marianist Social Justice Collaborative's Integral Ecology Team. Lead author and team member Tony Garascia, a Lay Marianist from South Bend, Indiana, was inspired by the stations found in the Laudato Si Movement Prayer Book that relate Christ's suffering as the firstborn of all Creation with the suffering of the Earth. Included for your individual or communal reflection are carefully-chosen passages from Laudato Si, inspiration from our Marianist Founders, and quotes from A Call to Courageous Action on the Climate Crisis. We pray that Mary, Jesus, and our Marianist ancestors guide our ecological conversion process this Lenten season and beyond, so that we may be the gift of faith and love in action that our world so desperately needs.
